About the Rugby Europe Sevens
Inspired by the IRB Seven World Series, Rugby Europe (then FIRA-AER) introduced in 2011 the Grand Prix Series (GPS) with 2-day tournaments.
The first nine European Seven series had 1-day tournaments with 12 teams each, playing a final championship with the best 16 european teams.
Since 2011 the European Sevens declares a champion with the accumulation of points from the Championship tournaments.
Also, Rugby Europe has established four levels: Championship, Trophy, Conference 1 and Conference 2, with promotions and relegations from year to year
